Celebrity Speaks:

Speaking at the ceremony, acclaimed Indian actor Sharmila Tagore called upon the Indian diaspora to join in creating a long-term and meaningful change in the lives of underprivileged children in India. "Today we are in a better position to address age old concerns that have plagued Indian children, such as malnutrition. 42 per cent of the world's hungry children are estimated to be living in India. If we want to truly tackle global problems like world hunger, we have to begin with children living in India," said Ms. Tagore

Also speaking at the event, distinguished cricketer Nawab Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi said, "The right to play belongs to every child. They deserve a safe and secure childhood, free from disease, hunger and malnutrition. The Indian community in the UK can make a real difference in ensuring that children in India are not denied their right to play, to go to school or their right to survival.
