CRY UK Annual Dinner

The annual annual charity dinner was organized on Sept 15th at London Marriott, Grosvenor Square and was entitled ‘Come Share My World’. This year, we wanted to bring alive the dreams and aspirations of children, through our project areas GSS in Gujarat and Jago in Jharkand. ‘Come Share My World’ was conceptualised on the basis of an insight that despite people being aware of the generalities of deprivation in India, it is often difficult to comprehend the experiences, needs and problems faced by the children in their everyday lives.

To bring alive these aspirations, a 20-day art workshop, with children from GSS and Jago were conducted. Children were part of an art workshop and created murals, mirror work and wall paintings that depicted their village, surroundings and their daily lives. This gave the children an opportunity to express themselves and also participated with folk music and dance, which was recorded and converted into a short film View video>>

The event saw performances from children from Arunima Kumar Dance, Indian classical and tango dance performances and solo music performances. Overall, CRY UK Annual Charity Dinner – Pledge 2012 helped raise £41,130, towards helping thousands of children in India realise their dreams.
